LACONIA, NH – Warren A. Bailey, 72, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished community leader, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 22, 2025.
Born on November 2, 1952, in Rockland, MA, Warren grew up in Braintree and graduated from Braintree High School in 1970. From a young age, he knew his calling was radio. With his trademark humor, he often quipped that he “had a face for radio.” At just 14, he obtained his broadcaster’s license and began reading the morning news at a station in Newport, NH, launching what would become a remarkable and influential career.
Over the decades, Warren’s voice became a familiar and comforting presence across New England. His career highlights included:
- 1971-1972 – WORC Worcester, MA
- 1972-1976 – journalist & program director WFEA Manchester, NH
- 1976-2007 – Morning host & operations manager, WLNH Laconia, NH
- October 2000 – named Broadcaster of the Year by NHAB
- 2002-2004 – Owner, WKXL Concord, NH
- 2000’s – weekend host, WZID Manchester, NH
- 2007-2015 – Advertising sales, on-air & online at Comcast Spotlight
- 2015-2025 – Founder & marketing director, WB Media 1

Along the way, he interviewed national figures such as Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole, and Adrian Cronauer, while also giving countless local voices a platform to be heard. His contributions to broadcasting and his community were widely recognized. Warren was honored with the 2000 NHAB Broadcaster of the Year Award, the 2007 “Jim” Irwin Community Recognition Award, the 2018 WEEI 101.5 Home Town Hero Award, and the 2024 Andrew L. Felker Award. He proudly served on the board of the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce.

Of all his achievements, none was more meaningful to Warren than founding The Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction in 1982. What began with a few donated items in the back of a radio station van grew into an annual tradition that has raised millions for local nonprofits, supporting countless families in the Lakes Region. Known affectionately as the “Father” of the Auction, Warren believed deeply that “the microphone is a powerful tool—do something meaningful with it.”
In October 2023 the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters created a new Community Service Award named for Warren to honor his enduring legacy.
Warren is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Bailey; his children, Chris Baron of Chesapeake, VA, Adam Bailey of Alstead, NH, Alissa Bailey of Concord, NH, Alex Bailey of Laconia, NH, Ashley McEndarfer and her husband Ryan of Ashby, MA, Jessica Taylor of New Hampton, NH, Cassie Rolland and her husband Jesse of Belmont, NH, and Patrick Taylor and his wife Eloisa of Yuma, AZ; his many treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister Donna Hutchings and her husband Russ; and his brother Ken Bailey and his wife Donna. He was predeceased by his son Scott Baron, his parents Barbara and Walter Bailey, and his brother Kevin Bailey.

August 24, 2025 at 9:34 amWe have certainly lost a NH Radio legend! Although I never worked directly with Warren, all of us in the radio brotherhood were well aware of his talents. He is already greatly missed.

Armed with a quiver of compassion and care, he made things better, always.

August 25, 2025 at 4:19 pmDoing the morning show with Warren was amazing. He taught me about the “theater of the mind” and the power of the microphone. I had a separate studio for my newscasts and when I went into his studio to do headlines, there were usually several visitors there and he would be promoting their business, their fundraiser or some community event. He included the community in our morning show and it made all the difference. We also took the morning show on the road which led to a few adventures. He made a huge impact on my life and my memories will live on in my heart and dreams.

September 22, 2025 at 4:04 pmWarren gave me my professional start in radio (WLNH) back in the early ’80s. He was an exceptional person who also served as an extraordinary teacher. I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from Warren Bailey.
