NHAB visits Upper Valley with National Guard

Earlier this month, NHAB Executive Director Jordan Walton visited three station groups in the Upper Valley with New Hampshire Army National Guard Marketing NCO Staff Sergeant Carolina Compton and local recruiter SSG Patrick McGinnis.   The group visited Koor Communications News/Talk WNTK, the Great Eastern Radio cluster which includes Q106, Kixx 100.5 and Kool 93.9 and Dartmouth’s 99 Rock WFRD.

SSGs Compton and McGinnis were interviewed live on WNTK and 99 Rock, talking about the National Guard and some of the benefits associated with joining.  The challenge for the Guard in the Upper Valley is that SSG McGinnis works out of Concord and sometimes the Guard ‘loses’ recruits to the National Guard in Vermont.

Our goal with connecting the National Guard with our Upper Valley stations and all the stations in the state is to supplement the NCSA recruitment messages with ongoing communication and collaboration with our stations.  The SSGs were thrilled with the visit and some of the connections they made to NHAB members.  We look forward to scheduling more station visits with our Guard partners in the near future and look for a new National Guard NCSA insertion for both radio and television in early 2015.
