Born in Boston, MA, February 27, 1958; B.A., Brown University, Providence, R.I.., 1980; J.D., Northeastern University School of Law, Boston, Mass., 1985; attorney; member of the New Hampshire Advisory Committee to the Adequacy in Education and Finance Commission; member of the New Hampshire state senate 2004-2010, serving as majority leader 2008-2010; governor of New Hampshire 2013-2016; elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 2016; reelected in 2022 for the term ending January 3, 2029.
Senator Hassan is a member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP); the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; and the Joint Economic Committee.
