Part-Time Producer

Manchester Media Group is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Part-Time Producer to join our Programming team.
The Producer is responsible for the smooth execution of live and recorded programming, including syndicated shows, talk programming, sports, special events and other broadcasts. This position requires someone who can follow a program log accurately, pay close attention to timing and respond quickly when programming or technical situations change.
The ideal candidate is reliable, comfortable working independently and understands that attention to detail behind the scenes is essential to keeping a radio station sounding professional on the air.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate the broadcast console during live and recorded programming.
- Run local and syndicated programming according to station clocks, program logs and established procedures.
- Accurately execute commercials, station identification, promotional announcements, imaging and other scheduled programming elements.
- Monitor programming for timing, audio quality and proper execution.
- Coordinate network and syndicated programming feeds.
- Monitor and properly execute live newscasts, sports programming, special events and remote broadcasts as assigned.
- Communicate with on-air personalities, producers, news personnel and other station staff during live programming.
- Screen and manage listener phone calls when required.
- Record, edit and prepare audio for broadcast as assigned.
- Monitor automation systems and other studio equipment during assigned shifts.
- Maintain required program, transmitter and operational logs as applicable.
- Identify and troubleshoot basic technical or programming problems and promptly notify the appropriate staff when additional assistance is required.
- Follow established procedures for EAS activations, severe weather, breaking news and other emergency situations.
- Maintain accurate timing during live programming and make necessary adjustments when programming runs long or short.
- Follow all company policies, FCC regulations and established broadcast standards.
- Maintain a professional and organized studio and control room environment.
- Perform additional programming and station duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Dependable, punctual and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow programming instructions and logs accurately.
- Ability to remain focused and make sound decisions during live broadcasts.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn broadcast software and equipment.
- Familiarity with broadcast consoles, automation systems, digital audio editing and studio equipment is preferred.
- Previous radio, audio production, broadcasting or related experience is helpful but not required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accurate timing and attention to the broadcast.
- Willingness to learn station procedures, FCC requirements and emergency broadcast protocols.
Schedule & Availability
This is a part-time position with hours based on programming and station needs.
Candidates should have flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Board Operators may also be asked to provide vacation, emergency or special event coverage as needed.
