Description
Manchester Media Group is looking for a talented, engaging and dependable Part-Time On-Air Personality to join our team.
The ideal candidate is comfortable behind the microphone, understands how to connect with a local audience and can deliver entertaining, relevant content while maintaining the sound and standards of our stations.
This position may include live and recorded air shifts, fill-in opportunities, production work, digital and social content, and appearances at station and community events. We are looking for someone who understands that today's on-air personality connects with listeners both on the radio and beyond the broadcast.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Host live and/or recorded on-air shifts as assigned.
- Deliver entertaining, informative and relevant content appropriate for the station's format and audience.
- Prepare for each air shift by staying current on local events, entertainment, music, news and topics of interest to our listeners.
- Operate the studio control board and automation systems as required.
- Follow station clocks, program logs and established format guidelines.
- Accurately execute commercials, promotional announcements, contests, station imaging and other scheduled programming elements.
- Interact with listeners through phone calls, text, social media and other station platforms.
- Create and contribute content for station websites, social media and other digital platforms as needed.
- Record and edit audio, promotional material and other production elements when assigned.
- Represent Manchester Media Group and its stations at promotional appearances, community events, client events and station functions.
- Monitor the technical quality of the broadcast and report problems to the appropriate staff.
- Follow all company policies, FCC regulations and established broadcast standards.
- Properly handle EAS activations, severe weather information, breaking news and other situations requiring immediate on-air attention.
- Work collaboratively with Programming, Promotions, Sales and other departments.
- Perform additional programming and station duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills and a confident, conversational on-air delivery.
- Ability to connect with listeners and communicate in an engaging and relatable way.
- Knowledge of and interest in the station's format, audience and local community.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to follow station clocks, logs and programming instructions accurately.
- Basic audio production and editing skills preferred.
- Familiarity with broadcast automation, studio equipment and digital audio systems preferred.
- Comfortable using social media and creating digital content.
- Previous radio, podcasting, broadcasting or related experience is preferred, but talented candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- Must be dependable, punctual and able to perform in a live broadcast environment.
Schedule & Availability
This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule based on station needs. Candidates should be available for a combination of weekday, evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
Part-time on-air personalities may also be asked to provide vacation or emergency fill-in coverage for regularly scheduled air shifts.
