August Antenna Highlights

(August 22, 2018) – The latest update on communications law and issues is available for NHAB members in the form of Antenna, the monthly newsletter edited by Attorney Scott Flick at Pillsbury law firm.

For starters, there are details about the upcoming national test of the Emergency Alert System on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 2:00 p.m. EDT. All stations are required to interrupt their programming for a simultaneous airing of a national test message. Stations are also required to register with the Electronic Test Reporting System. Form 1 is due August 27th and Form 2 must be filled out by 11:50 p.m. on the day of the test. The deadline for Form 3 is November 5.

This edition also has an article on the process for television and FM station affected by the national spectrum auction repack to get reimbursement from the federal government.

Nobody likes cutting a check when they file paperwork with the FCC. You’ll like it even less when fees increase in September. Scott provides the new amounts.
