WFEA Manchester 1973-74
A native New Yorker, Susan grew up in Natick, MA and graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a degree in education and psychology.
She found her first radio job in 1972 in the front lobby of WFEA. She quickly grew bored and talked her way into a job selling advertising - the first woman to do so on the staff. On Christmas Eve program director Warren Bailey asked her to do the news. Her on-air debut was hardly auspicious; she panicked and ran out of the studio. But she returned an hour later a her reporting career was born.
After a few months Susan crossed town and joined the WGIR news department. She was the primary anchor on the two-hour daily P.M. Report and also did special features and remotes. During this time she attracted the attention of WBZ in Boston which offered her part-time work. When WGIR told her to give up the moonlighting, she resigned, showing up the following Monday on the airwaves of rival WKBR where she spent two years. For many years she was a co-host of the Easter Seal Telethon on WMUR TV.
In 1978 Susan joined WBZ Radio full time. A year later she was hired by WHDH Radio.
Since 1981 Susan has been with WHDH TV in Boston. In 1990 she became Channel 5's consumer reporter and has hosted a daily talk show on New England Cable.
